Despite his upcoming film being almost 3 and a half hours, Martin Scorsese somehow managed to limit Brendan Fraser’s screentime in “Killers of the Flower Moon” to just a few scenes.
After rumors were hinting that Fraser had been completely snipped out of the film, the recent Oscar winner confirmed his participation in ‘Killers,’ to People Magazine:
There's so many actors in this movie when you see it. I'll arrive for a scene or two at the end.
So, “a scene or two.” Let’s remember Fraser was cast in the film in early 2021, way before, what some like to call, the “Brenaissance.” Regardless, in that same interview he went on to describe the feeling of working with Scorsese for the first time in his career:
It's like my fantasies fulfilled at what it's like to be in a Renaissance master's studio. Think about that. Somebody who has all the knowledge, hands down and surrounded by people who are so talented and enthusiastic for his vision […] the work that we did was kind of being in an opera or a play because it was happening in real time.
Fraser adds that he hasn’t signed on to any new projects following his Oscar win: “At the moment, I don't have anything — I'm really being picky right now.”
The clear “lead” actors in ‘Killers’ are probably Robert De Niro, Leonardo Dicaprio, Jesse Plemons and Lily Gladstone. There’s also John Lithgow but we’re not entirely sure if his scenes got edited out or not.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” is set to screen on May 20th at the Cannes Film Festival.
