As previously reported, Clint Eastwood is working on his next film, it’s titled “Juror #2” and will star Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.
THR seems to be implying that this would indeed be Eastwood’s final film, especially since he’ll be 93 by the time production begins on the film in June:
“Sources say that the actor-director wanted to find one last project in order to be able to ride off into the sunset with his head held high.”
This will probably be the narrative used by Warner Bros. during awards season: “Clint’s final film”. Then again, I wouldn’t put it past him to direct another one after “Juror #2” — Portuguese filmmaker Manoel De Oliveira made films until he was 103.
Eastwood has been looking at various different potential projects these last few years, but found the script by Jonathan Abrams and decided this was the one. A few adjustments were made to Abrams’ screenplay but none too major.
The film is “set during a murder trial where one of the jurors slowly realizes he killed the victim in a reckless-driving accident and tries to save the defendant without incriminating himself”
Eastwood is eyeing a June shoot. Given that he is known for very quick production and post-production processes, it does look as though this one could be released by the end of the year.
