As mentioned last week, “Barbie” reshoots were announced and it seems like they started today in Los Angeles. These aren’t minor ones either, Margot Robbie was spotted on-set this afternoon.
There really isn’t word yet on the exact reason why these reshoots are occurring. Maybe it’s based on audiences feedback from the first test-screening? A big chunk of the cast was spotted filming today.
Maybe studio advice?
Supposedly, the scenes being reshot are set in the “Real World” and not “Barbie Land”, the latter of which was heavily featured in the trailer.
Regardless, I was sent six reactions from that 02.09.23 test-screening in New Jersey — four were very positive, one was positive with reservations and the last one was a pan. I was told the audience seemed to really be into the movie.
The film is said to have loads of cameos and twists, but it’s not at all a fish out of water story.
“Barbie” has an all-star tech team behind it including cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto and composer Alexandre Desplat. Not to mention none other than Noah Baumbach co-writing the screenplay with Gerwig.
It also cost $100 million to produce.
