As reported on 03.30.23, Deadline has confirmed that Clint Eastwood is working on his next film, it’s titled “Juror #2” and will star Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.
The film is “set during a murder trial where one of the jurors slowly realizes he killed the victim in a reckless-driving accident and tries to save the defendant without incriminating himself”.
Eastwood tackling a legal drama is an interesting twist. There is also no indication that he would star in this one like he did in his last film, 2021’s “Cry Macho.”
DiscussingFilm were saying earlier that the current plan was for Eastwood to retire completely after the creation of this film. However, Deadline has no such mention in their write-up. Eastwood will turn 93 this summer.
Warner Bros, who have had a 50-year partnership with Eastwood, are said to be a part of this production. It is well-known now that, when he took over the reigns of the company, David Zaslav was none-too-pleased about the studio greenlighting “Cry Macho,” according to leaked exchanges.
Famed Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira directed films until he was 103, why can’t Clint attempt the same feat?
Save for the very-average “Cry Macho,” Eastwood has still been producing quality work as a director these last ten or so years — “The Mule” and “Richard Jewell” in particular.
