Yes, David Zaslav might be talking out of his tochus, but we might as well post about this before it screens in just about an hour from now.
Andres Muschietti’s “The Flash” is set to have its first official screening at CinemaCon this afternoon. For many months now I’ve been fed intel that it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. I’ll update this post with reactions when they come in.
All of this to say that Warner Bros boss David Zaslav has just intro’ed “The Flash” at CinemaCon with the kind of glowing praise that should not be taken lightly. He’s saying it’s the best superhero ever made, okay then:
I've seen it three times. It's a very emotional movie. You're going to go through all the emotions. To me it's the best superhero I've ever seen. I think it's broken new ground... It's very personal. It's very inspiring.
So, according to Zaslav, that means it’s better than “The Dark Knight,” “Spider-Man 2,” “The Incredibles,” “Logan,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Batman,” “Superman II,” “Unbreakable” … That’s pantheon for the genre.
We’ll know in about 3 hours time what the critics who are attending CinemaCon really think of “The Flash.” Hey, I’m hopeful. As I mentioned, there’s been an onslaught on intel that “The Flash” really is something else. It even earned the highest test-score ratings in DCEU history.
The $300 million movie, endlessly delayed, not just because of its crime-spreeing star Ezra Miller, has had reshoots here and there, but it’s been gathering up strong word of mouth for a few months now.
Stay tuned …
