Right before winning her Adapted Screenplay Oscar for “Women Talking,” filmmaker Sarah Polley stated on the red carpet that her next movie would be about … awards season?
Speaking with Deadline the Oscar winner said, “I’ve been developing a project based on my experiences going through awards season — I’m not kidding.”
“I know all of your names and I have all of your numbers, you will be hearing from me,” Polley told Deadline.
“I’ve had basically a hotline with all the filmmakers and writers in the race, who text and email me things as they happen all night long — I have this informal writers room which has been amazing.”
Polley took more than 10 years off in between her last film and her Oscar winner. She wrote a novel and had children. This is quite the comeback for her and it is very likely that she will be getting carte blanche with this next project.
Before filming her diatribe “Women Talking,” Polley was known as the director behind “Take This Waltz,” “Away From Her,” and “Stories We Tell.”
