With Aziz Ansari failing to revive “Being Mortal” and it mostly likely never to be completed, the actor/filmmaker is off to his next project, via Production Weekly.
Ansari will be shooting “Good Fortune” in May. The film is being described as a “high concept comedy about the gig economy in Los Angeles.”
Production on Ansari’s “Being Mortal” began on March 28th in Los Angeles. Then three weeks later, on April 20th, the shoot was derailed when Searchlight received a complaint from an actress complaining about “inappropriate behavior” on the part of Murray.
Production on the film, which was halfway completed, shut down and never started back again. There was word that Ansari’s agents were shopping “Being Mortal” around at the Cannes market, but to no avail. It turned out, Searchlight didn’t want to touch it anymore.
Now the film will never be finished and just become a part of Hollywood lore.
Hopefully Ansari can bring the back crew and other production staff from that film into this next project. No actors have been mentioned so far, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing more details about it very soon.
