A quick update on ‘Avengers 5’ aka “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Daniel Richtman is reporting that it will start production in late 2024. There is still no director for this project after Daniel Destin Cretton dropped out late this year.
Why is it getting shot so early? ‘Avengers 5’ has a 2027 release date. It makes more sense for Marvel to take its time, write the new script, cast accordingly and, wisely, choose a new director … That’s why we should probably mark this “late 2024” production date as a rumor.
The strikes resulted in ‘Avengers 5’ being delayed from its original 2026 launch to 2027. ‘Secret Wars’ had to be rewritten due to the recasting of Jonathan Majors, who was set to play the main villain, Kang the Conqueror. The original title,” Avengers: Kang Dynasty,” was scrapped. My prediction is that this one will be titled “Avengers: Secret Wars — Part 1.”
The plan is to also have ‘Spider-Man 4’ released between ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers 6.’ Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is said to have a “very big role” in these upcoming ‘Avengers’ movies. Holland also has his Fred Astaire biopic set to shoot in 2024 (Emma Stone is rumored to be his co-lead in the film).
