Alex Garland's upcoming "Civil War" was given an MPA rating in June. This meant that the film was ready. Word is that a trailer is finally being released next month, via A24.
We don’t know much about “Civil War.” It test screened a few times this year (in February and April) but didn’t show up at any of the fall fests. In September, I had reported that a Spring 2024 release was in the works. The strike probably didn’t help with this one, but I really thought it would show up at TIFF.
The film stars Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny, Karl Glusman, Sonoya Mizuno and Jonica T. Gibbs. Although we have no official plot details, I’ve been told that the film is about Journalists trying to break into the White House to interview the President while a civil war is breaking out.
Garland’s last film was the very divisive “Men,” before that he directed the well-reviewed “Ex-Machina” and “Annihilation.” His unofficial directorial debut was “Dredd,” for which he was not credited.
