Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” is now in theaters. It did decently well last night in Tuesday previews with a $3 million showing. The film cost Apple $200 million to produce. It’s now looking at a 5-day total of around $30 million.
I know I’ve used the excuse that Apple couldn’t care less about not making money on “Napoleon” and “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and it does look as though both films won’t be recouping their budget and marketing cost, but it’s not really a “win” for them either. At least, ‘Killers’ will get plenty of Oscar nominations, that’s the most positive way of looking at it. “Napoleon” likely won’t.

Meanwhile, Disney’s “Wish,” which also cost $200 million, grossed $2.3 million, which is around what “Encanto” made in this same time period back in 2021 — that film went on to have a 5-day opening of around $40 million. However, “Encanto” had some legs at the box-office thanks to the hit single “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”
