I’m hoping the SAG-AFTRA interim agreement that “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” nabbed this afternoon is a sign that a deal with the studios might be imminent. I mean, why else would a $100 million budgeted movie get exempted? Maybe Lionsgate has already adhered to SAG-AFTRA’s terms? Plenty of big movies failed to get an exemption this fall and, for some of them, this resulted in box office disappointment. Regardless, ‘Songbirds and Snakes’ stars Zegler, Blyth, Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage and Hunter Schafer are now allowed to promote the film. Lionsgate must be happy.
