When it came the time to assemble a list of the best films of the last decade, many critics included David Fincher's “The Social Network” on their ballots.
Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin had hinted about a possible sequel to the 2010 film, saying that the idea of a sequel was a no-brainer: “First of all, I know a lot more about Facebook in 2005 than I do in 2018, but I know enough to know that there should be a sequel,” said Sorkin.
In a newly published interview with The Guardian, David Fincher confirms that he’s had talks with Sorkin about possibly making a sequel, cryptically adding that he doesn’t really want to delve into it since “that’s a whole can of worms.”
“The Social Network” told the story of the early days of Facebook and its creator Mark Zuckerberg, it ended with Zuckerberg being scolded by Rashida Jones' lawyer and, ironically, friendless, despite inventing a cyber world built upon the idea of friendship.
Recently, Zuckerberg has been indebted in a sea of controversies concerning his actions as CEO of Facebook, including evidence having been uncovered that Zuckerberg sold people’s personal data, letting advertisers target you based on your interests.
Fincher’s “The Killer” is now in theaters and will be made available to stream via Netflix on November 10th.
