Last month, we reported the rumor that Shia LaBeouf had joined Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis.” This casting news surprised many, given that Laboeuf has been persona non grata in Tinseltown for over a year now.
Well, it turns out that rumor was indeed true. LaBeouf will be a part of Coppola’s epic, all this as Olivia Wilde is knee deep in a PR nightmare. You gotta love it. This was all confirmed on a recent appearance by LaBoeuf on Jon Bernthal’s podcast.
LaBeouf had taken some time off from acting after being criminally charged for misdemeanor battery and petty theft in September 2020.
LaBeouf is joining a “Megalopolis” cast that includes Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Forest Whittaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, and Laurence Fishburne. The production is set to begin in November and run through March 2023.
Coppola clearly saw the talent behind the controversy. LaBeouf has had his fair share of great performances over the years, including roles in “Pieces of a Woman,” “American Honey,” “Nymphomaniac.”
