Many were wondering why Netflix moved George C. Wolfe’s “Rustin” to 2023. Well, turns out it was because it was still in production.
Production has indeed wrapped on Wolfe’s film, which started shooting in November of 2021. That’s a 10-month shoot. There must have certainly been delays along the way, no? I thought only Martin Scorsese was allowed to have to these type of lengthy shoots.
Wolfe directed 2020’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and his upcoming “Rustin” revolves around gay, civil rights activist Bayard Rustin (Colman Domingo), who organized the 1963 March on Washington — the ingredients are most definitely there for primo Oscar bait.
