My general rule when it comes to SXSW is that anything that gets raved there is suspect. This year, “Bodies Bodies Bodies” garnered great reviews at the Austin-based fest, it’s also produced by A24, which adds some extra oomph to its pedigree. Too bad it’s not very good. Starring Pete Davidson, Maria Bakalova and Rachel Sennott, this horror film sets its sights on a party game gone awry, leading to murder and backstabbing as friends gather at a remote family mansion. Filmmaker Halina Reijn is visually talented, always knowing where to place her camera, but the film is fairly generic, a millennial twist on the slasher genre, and its twist ending can be seen from miles away. It’s useless wasting more ink on this one. [C]
