A few little runtime nuggets gathered from today’s Venice announcement.
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Bardo” is 180 minutes. That only makes me anticipate the film more. Alberto Barbera didn’t give an official runtime, but said it was around 3-hours, maybe the rumors that Inarritu is still in post-production are accurate.
Todd Field’s “Tar” is 158 minutes. Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” is 136 minutes. Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde” is 165 minutes.
Get ready to spend many hours in theaters this fall. Short movies are in short supply; that’s why it’s refreshing to see that Frederick Wiseman’s “Un Couple” is just 67 minutes long, ditto Joanna Hogg’s “The Eternal Daughter” at under 90 minutes.
