I’m not that surprised the Toronto International Film Festival selected Nicolas Stoller’s “BROS” as a world premiere this morning. The early buzz for this comedy has been exceptional. I wrote on 04.29.22:
“Test-screenings have gone incredibly well for the film, which is said to be the first comedy to have an all-LGBT cast. Even the straight characters are being played by LGBT actors. Of course, that does not necessarily equate to quality, but word is that the film is flat-out hilarious.
The film follows two men with commitment problems taking a crack at serious relationships. It’s produced by Judd Apatow. Stoller also has more-than-decent track record in the comedy genre having helmed “Neighbours,” “The Five-Year Engagement,” “Get Him to the Greek,” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”
I’m being told a screenplay nod is not out of the realm of possibilities when it comes to this film’s Oscar chances.
