Every few weeks I inquire about Roman Polanski’s “The Palace” which still has no distributor, not even in France.
Polanski is in the early stages of editing his film and a contact tells me he’s “frustrated” but “hopeful” about “The Palace” getting picked up in France, which is where he’s been living with wife Emmanuelle Seigner for 33 years now.
Maybe it ca squeeze into competition at the Venice Film Festival and find a distributor there?
The situation is quite odd given the fact that Polanski released one of his best films in 2019, “An Officer and a Spy.” He won Best Director at both Venice and the César awards for his work on that masterful film.
If you remember, Adèle Haenel walked out of the auditorium at the 2020 Césars, infuriated by Polanski’s win. This consequently kicked off a loud debate in France about Polanski.
