The Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan starring “Maestro” starred shooting in May. Some were clinging to the hope that the film might sneak into a December release, alas that won’t be the case.
Cooper, who directs the film, confirmed [via The Playlist] that it is being slotted for a fall 2023 release date, probably smack dab in the middle of the Telluride/Venice/Toronto storm.
Production on the film sounds taxing, it’ll probably be more than a few months before they wrap shooting. Cooper again on the podcast:
“We started shooting in Massachusetts, then New York, then East Hampton, then we take a break, and then we go to Italy for three weeks, and then we end in London.” That makes “Maestro” quite the globe-trotting production.
The upcoming film is a biopic based on the life of Leonard Bernstein. It is said to span over 30 years, telling the story of the marriage between Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre. Cooper has been working closely with the Bernstein estate over the past couple of years.
