Amalia Ulman, director of the excellent “El Planeta,” and friend of Ari Aster’s, went on Twitter to chime in on our report from a few weeks ago about Aster’s upcoming “Disappointment Blvd”:
“Ari Aster’s new film is amazing and deserves to be as long as it wants to be”
An American producer had told me at Cannes that “Disappointment Blvd” clocked in at 210 minutes and that Aster didn’t want to cut a single minute of it, much to A24’s chagrin.
We should start a hashtag about this. I’ve seen a few people use #ReleaseTheAsterCut on Twitter, maybe that‘s the way to go. Regardless, A24 needs to release every single minute of Aster’s vision. It’ll turn into a primal movie event for cinephiles nationwide.
