Production on Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” had started in February and just wrapped this week in California. That’s five months of shooting. Must be exhausting, especially for lead Cillian Murphy who plays the titular nuclear scientist.
You can find most of the details on the film here. Nolan now has a whole year to put this one in the can with his usual arduous editing process. A July 2023 release date is already in the books for “Oppenheimer”.
The film started off with a budget said to be a little over $100 million, Universal immediately jumped onboard to distribute it after Nolan cut ties with long-time partner Warner Bros.
This is Nolan straying away from science-fiction and going back to the historical territory of “Dunkirk”. It’s a biopic, with some (maybe all) scenes shot in IMAX analog black and white, and it could very well end up being primo Oscar bait come next year.
