Over the weekend, I asked around to see exactly what happened on the set of “Being Mortal” for production to be suspended due to a complaint filed against Bill Murray.
I promised not to go into great detail, but, suffice to say, it’s going to make your blood boil to realize that production got shut down for this tepid reason and for Murray to have his reputation dragged through the mud over it. We’ll have more about it this week ..
Folks, we are living in an age of hypersensitivity. People are getting too sensitive, so much so that this mental fragility has created and legitimized something as preposterous as “safe spaces.” This is why comedy in 2022 is dead in America.
Meanwhile, a friend of Murray’s said “when people find out what happened there, they’ll laugh …”
From what I understand, someone tried to get ahead with of the narrative by leaking to the New York Post that Murray was “hands-on touchy, not in any personal areas, but put an arm around a woman, touched her hair, pulled her ponytail — but always in a comedic way.”
A source is telling me that the details in the New York Post piece, although not even that scathing, have been exaggerated and made to be more damaging than they actually are. Sacrilege! Murray put his arm around a woman! Searchlight pressed the panic button too early and that is that.
Upcoming Murray movies include Peter Farelly’s “The Greatest Beer Run,” Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City,” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.”
UPDATE: I received an email from an angry individual about this post, might as well share it with you (is that you Keke?)
”No Jordan, the world has not become too sensitive. Hardly. It is just, not much, just a little bit uncomfortable now for the insensitive to be insensitive. The arrogant screw you roll right over you me first I do what I want self-serving asshole prix -- are having to show some..not much..a little respect for others, finally. Accountability and consequences are not something the ego-driven are used to. Too bad. No one is asking the current fxckyou literally jack holes of the world to pay for the billions of unreported unrepentant unforgiven violences and rapes, for example, throughout history. But it is starting to be expected that one does pay for their own oppressions, now. The film shutDown is correct. Good for them. It is plain too bad that you Justin, think we should all continue prostrate smiling blind. Far far greater "hypersensitivity" is likely needed and required -- before the bullshit, bull headed and handed...learn.”
