Well, it’s not like we didn’t expect this to happen.
“Moonfall,” the Roland Emmerich sci-fi disaster flick, took in just $2.7 million on Friday. It’s set to make around $8 million overall this weekend. The movie cost $150 million, not including marketing costs. You do the math. This is turning into a stinker for the ages.
I wrote yesterday that I painstakingly made it through all 120 minutes of Emmerich’s latest bomb.
The reviews for “Moonfall” have been quite bad. A 38 on Metacritic and 41% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audience scores have been horrendous as well — a 5.3 on IMDB seems to indicate that not even Joe and Jane popcorn have taken a liking to it’s silly theatrics.
Meanwhile, ”Jackass Forever,” which has 1/10 the budget of “Moonfall,” is set to open at the top of the box-office with an impressive $20 million.
