I Guess Will Smith Can Now Attend …

February 9, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

The celebrities who will be attending this coming March’s Academy Awards ceremony will not be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, as per THR.

Last September, I had written a piece about Will Smith’s potential Oscar dilemma. There was a stunning rumor that was being spread by a publicist during the Telluride Film Festival that Smith wasn’t vaxxed and that’s why he was a no-show at the fest.

The months went ahead, “King Richard” consequently screened at the BFI London Film Festival and he was still a no-show. For someone who is a major Oscar contender to refrain from showing up to these fests or campaign, you’d have to think that something was off. Smith’s low-key campaigning these last few months hasn’t helped quash the rumors either.

Fact of the matter is this: For many decades now, Hollywood has had a contingent of anti-vaxxers among its merriment band of artists, including the likes of Jim Carrey, Robert DeNiro, and Jessica Biel. The anti-vaxxer movement in Hollywood has been as deeply ingrained to its fringe DNA as, say, Scientology.

What I’m trying to say is that it’s not just Smith, there are probably plenty of unvaccinated others who just don’t publicly make their stance known in the age of COVID vaccine hysteria.
