“Pirates of the Caribbean” producer Jerry Bruckheimer told AP Entertainment that he is working “working on” a potential Johnny Depp return to the franchise and a screenplay is being written for it.
This is surprising news given that Depp hasn’t shown much interest in returning as Captain Jack Sparrow, especially after Disney canned him. If you remember, Disney fired Depp from the franchise shortly after Amber Heard’s Washington Post op-ed accusing him of spousal abuse.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise has been dead to many fans, especially after the last release, 2017's "Dead Men Tell No Tales.” However, money talks and reboots occur on a near-weekly basis in this industry.
