Alejandro Jodorowsky has just announced on Instagram that he's prepping a new movie called "Viaje Esencial" or “Essential Voyage”, in English. Thanks to Antonio for the scoop.
Jodorowzky published a book of poems with the same name. Maybe it’ll be an anthological film? What we do know is that it’ll start production sometime in 2023.
Fact of the matter is that the legendary Jodorowsky is pushing 95 years old, and his films haven’t necessarily diminished in quality over the years. His last film was 2016’s “Endless Poetry”, and he managed to even release an ultra low budget documentary pre-pandemic.
Jodorowsky is the surrealist Chilean auteur behind, at least, two 1970s masterpieces: “El Topo” and “The Holy Mountain.” He also, unsuccessfully, tried to adapt Herbert’s “Dune” in the mid-‘70s, a scrapped project that has not only become the stuff of legend, but resulted in an incredible 2013 doc titled “Jodorowsky’s Dune.”
