Welcome to 2022, where “honest” film critics can’t seem to find it in their hearts to admit that a movie is just plain bad.
Why is it so hard for Vulture’s Sam Sanders to admit that “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” just isn’t that good? Fact of the matter is that this MCU sequel makes 2018’s “Black Panther” look like second coming.
There’s nothing wrong in saying that, and the fact that a film writer finds it so hard to admit that a Marvel movie isn’t good is downright disturbing. Hell, “Black Panther” wasn’t even that impressive to begin with, but not many wanted to admit it four years ago.
The piece claims Sanders “felt uneasy sharing his opinion of the movie, which is that it … doesn’t quite hit.” Oy vey. ‘Wakanda Forever’ is doing just fine at the box-office, none of the Disney/Marvel execs will be losing money or sleep over it.
