Quentin Tarantino was on the Howard Stern show for an interview and when asked what he believes to be his best movie he quickly had an answer:
"For years people used to ask me stuff like that," he said. "And I would say something like, 'Oh, they're all my children.'" But then he delivered a definitive answer. "I really do think “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is my best movie."
In “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” Tarantino juggles a mosaic of characters and story-lines, eventually stringing them together for a relentlessly playful and touching finale. Unlike ‘Django’ ‘Basterds,’ and, really, any of his post-Jackie Brown films, ‘Hollywood’ takes its time to build up atmosphere and character. It’s a triumphant statement.
If you ask me, “Pulp Fiction” is Tarantino’s masterpiece, just for the sole fact that he reinvented the language of cinema with his Palme d’Or winning film. ‘Pulp’ was an immensely influential movie that Tarantino has, wisely, not attempted to duplicate.
“Jackie Brown” is another masterpiece of his. It came off the heels of “Pulp Fiction,” with very high expectations and was initially met with mixed reviews. Over time, it’s aged like fine wine.
Tarantino ranked would be (1) Pulp Fiction (2) Jackie Brown (3) Once Upon A Time in Hollywood (4) Reservoir Dogs (5) Kill Bill (6) Inglorious Basterds (7) The Hateful Eight (8) Death Proof (9) Django Unchained
