Why have I never heard of this movie until now?
I can count in less than two hands the amount of times I’ve been shocked or repulsed at the movies and/or covered my eyes in genuine disgust: “The Human Centipede 2,” “Irreversible,” “A Serbian Film,” “Pink Flamingos,” and Hostel Part II” come to mind.
The 140 minute sequel “Terrifier 2” is making a killing with horror fans. The slasher sequel cracked the domestic top 10 at the weekend box-office, it has already earned more than four times its 500k budget, according to Yahoo.
Typically a movie drops in the 50% range week by week. Not “Terrifier 2”. This past weekend, in 200 fewer theaters, the film jumped a shocking +6%, adding an addition $1 million gross, for a two-weekend total of $2.5M.
Although the sequel is an indie success, not many critics have reviewed it. “Terrifier 2” only has 4 reviews movie Metacritic and 28 total on Rotten Tomatoes. This film is, by all accounts, an underground phenomenon.
The plot revolves around Art, a killer clown, who is resurrected by a supernatural force and terrorizes the residents of Miles County. Screening reports have become part of the film’s marketing campaign because of how revolted some audience members have been.
Reports of people passing out, puking and crying in bathrooms have been surfacing on social media.
I’m currently looking for a local screening of the film.
