During a press conference at Sitges Film Festival, Dario Argento announced that his next film will star Isabelle Huppert.
Shooting will take place in Paris next Spring. This is a loose remake of a Mexican film of the ‘40s. Meanwhile, Argento’s latest film, “Dark Glasses,” is currently in limited release. The reviews are not good.
Argento hasn’t really made a good movie since 1990’s “Opera,” or a great movie since 1984’s “Tenebrae,” but a comeback is always more than welcome, especially when you decide to cast one of the great living actresses.
The filmmaker is indeed legendary thanks to his Giallo style of filmmaking which spurned classics such as “Suspiria,” and “Deep Red” in the ‘70s. Luca Guadagnino remade the former a few years ago, Argento was tagged in as producer, but admitted the remake failed to “excite” him and said it felt more like a "betrayal."
