On a new episode of Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Adam Sandler hinted at a potential collaboration with “Tár” director Todd Field.
“Todd Field, we just talked the other day about something. He’s a great guy, I’ve known him for many years. We’ll see.”
Not many actors can claim to have worked with great filmmakers like Paul Thomas Anderson, The Safdies, and Noah Baumbach, but Sandler can. He’s a underrated and gifted. Adding Field to his resume would result in an absolutely intriguing resume.
“Tár,” a directorial achievement, is Field’s latest film, his first one in over 16 years. It seems as though he won’t be resting on his laurels and is soon to work on a new film. Bring it on.
Meanwhile, I heard a few weeks ago that Netflix will be pushing hard for an Adam Sandler Oscar nomination in the Lead Actor category for his “Hustle” performance. Sandler’s work in the basketball drama is not quite a career-peak (“Uncut Gems” “Punch-Drunk Love”), but it’s probably the third best performance I’ve ever seen him give. The movie itself is also quite entertaining.
