Cannes Film Festival head honcho Thierry Fremaux gave a new interview [via Rappler], this time saying he's confident Cannes will happen in July and that Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch” and Paul Verhoeven’s “Benedetta” will be in the official selection. He also vowed that the world’s most prestigious film festival, which he has led since 2004, will go live, in-person from July 6 to 17 this year.
“We are sure that Cannes will take place in July,” declared Thierry Fremaux, director of Cannes Film Festival in our recent video conversation. Regarding films, I, of course, won’t tell you any title except the films that we all know were already selected from last year, including by Wes Anderson (The French Dispatch) and Paul Verhoeven (Benedetta). They will be back in the official selection.”
Both films are part of our 30 films that could premiere at Cannes 2021
