The most influential children's series in TV history gets the front and center treatment in the very likable documentary “Sesame Street: How We Got to Sesame Street.” Director Marilyn Agrelo’s film is both frustrating and entertaining to watch — her gaze wants to celebrate every possible aspect of the “Sesame Street” and its creators, but, in doing so, many storylines go unexplored. There are so many stories here that could support their own standalone docs, but a deep and investigative look at “Sesame Street” this is not. Instead, it’s a breezy recap about how a show that was designed around the streets of Harlem, meant for inner-city kids and featuring, of all things, muppets became such a cultural phenomenon. There’s a fascinating chapter on Kermit the Frog’s iconic song “It Isn’t Easy Being Green,” which, it turns out, was written with racial issues on its mind.
