Top 7 Casino Robbery Movies to Watch

February 5, 2021 James Collins

If you love gambling and movies, we bet you would enjoy watching some of the best casino robbery movies of all time. After all, there's nothing better than pairing the excitement of casino games with mind-boggling heist scenes!

You don't even have to be a cinema geek to name one or two casino robbery movies, but how about naming seven? That’s exactly what we want to do here, so buckle up as we are about to present you with the top seven movies about casino robberies.

1. Casino Royale

Is there a better way to open the list? The film even contains the word ‘casino’ and it features one of the greatest movie characters in history, James Bond. In this iteration of the 007 series, James Bond is gambling against a vicious private banker who funds terrorists in his spare time. Casino Royale represents 144 minutes of sheer adrenaline and nerve-racking scenes of gambling, car chases, fights, and shootouts.

2. The Gambler

Do you think casino robbery movies aren’t supposed to feature literature professors? Perhaps you are right, but The Gambler will prove you wrong. In this film, Jim Bennett fights his gambling addiction as he enters a dense net of relations with his mother, students, and – worst of all – with a dangerous loan shark. Keep in mind that we are talking about the 2014 movie here, but you won’t make a mistake even if you watch The Gambler from 1980.

3. 21

Many people believe that it’s impossible to rob a casino these days, especially because most of the games are played online. There are so many popular $1 minimum deposit casino sites that no one can enter the place physically and rip off the owners. But the crew from 21 found a way to do it – this heist drama is actually a story of MIT students who figured out how to cheat casino games and win tremendous amounts of money by playing blackjack.

4. 3000 Miles to Graceland

Who says heist movies have to be so serious every time? 3000 Miles to Graceland proves that casino robbery films can be just as fun as any other type of comedy. The movie takes place during the annual Elvis convention week in Las Vegas, so it guarantees to entertain you not just with gunfire and robberies but also with hilarious dialogues and high-quality music.

5. Reindeer Games

Reindeer Games is a movie of stolen identities, love stories, casino heists, car chases, and so much more – all at the same time. If it sounds crazy, that’s because it is! But that doesn’t stop Reindeer Games from becoming one of the most popular casino robbery movies of all. The cast is fairly attractive because the movie features Charlize Theron, Ben Affleck, and Gary Sinise, among others. And it’s a sub-two-hour film, which is a rarity these days.

6. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

If you are watching movies for adventure, comedy, and drama, you will find it all in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Lead roles went to Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro, but did you really expect some other names in a movie about an eccentric journalist and a lawyer who also turns out to be a psychopath?

7. Ocean's Eleven

We know you’ve seen this one coming! Ocean’s Eleven is probably one of the most entertaining casino heist movies ever as it is packed with clever jokes, attractive photography, mind-blowing robbery plans, and VIP actors. All these reasons helped the movie earn nearly $500 million worldwide, while the producers also decided to make three sequels. However, we are sure that the first one, Ocean’s Eleven, is by far the best piece of work they’ve done.

The Bottom Line

Gambling-related movies are always fun to watch, but the plot gets even better when they add a good old heist to the script. This takes almost every casino movie to the very peak of thrill and suspense, which is why we recommend watching some of the finest films about casino robberies. We selected the top seven movies with you, but make sure to comment on our picks and name your favorites!
