In this site we like to pride ourselves in bringing “tomorrow’s news today.” That’s why people become daily readers. Another example, is our breaking the news on 10.25.21 of Alfonso Cuarón working on an Apple TV miniseries with Cate Blanchett. Lo and behold, more than a month later, it is now official.
Variety confirmed the new this afternoon. However, it looks as though Gary Oldman, who had originally been cast, is now replaced by the always-reliable Kevin Kline. Emmanuel Lubezki is also set as the director of photography for the series.
As per Variety:
“The show is titled “Disclaimer” and is based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight. Blanchett stars as Catherine Ravenscroft, a successful and respected television documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions. When an intriguing novel written by a widower (Kline) appears on her bedside table, she is horrified to realize she is a key character in a story that she had hoped was long buried in the past.”
Cuarón will write and direct every episode. In case you’re a cinephile living under a rock, he is the director of such masterworks as “Roma,” “Y Tu Mama Tambien” and “Children of Men.”
