Armie Hammer has been Plummered.
Deadline has learned that actor Will Arnett has replaced Armie Hammer on Searchlight Pictures’ Taika Waititi-directed comedy “Next Goal Wins.” The situation is very similar to what was done to Kevin Spacey on “All the Money in the Worlds,” the former had his scenes completely reshot with Christopher Plummer as his replacement.
Deadline is saying that Waititi held reshoots to completely scrap the role that Hammer was playing, which Arnett took over. Arnett’s role was also supposedly developed to be slightly bigger versus Hammer’s role.
Principal photography on “Next Goal Wins” began in November 2019 and wrapped in January 2020, it has been in a state of limbo ever since. It didn’t help that one of the film’s stars, Hammer, got the industry boot after numerous sexually assault allegations surfaced against him.
