In case, you missed them, you can click on the previously posted first, second and third reactions to Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman.”
As previously stated, Reeves’ movie clocks in at 3 hours. We thought this could have just been a very rough cut, but the this 180 minute cut was shown again last night at a secret screening with cast and crew in attendance.
Here’s a fourth but fragmented reaction:
“It’s a nearly three hour long detective story. Full blown noir film. Story starts on Halloween and runs for about a week. Batman keeps a journal which is read to the audience in voiceover. Most of Pattinson’s dialogue is spoken this way and he wears the suit for the majority of his screentime. He’s just Batman with little interest in being Bruce.”
“Selina (Catwoman) is friends with a missing woman tied to Riddler’s 1st victim. Her primary goal is to find her friend but she has deeper connections to the mob storyline. Penguin runs the Iceberg Lounge and is Falcone’s right-hand man.”
“The Riddler is sort of a Jigsaw figure. As an example, a character is locked in an explosive collar and has to solve three riddles in order to get the combination.”
Principal photography on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” began in January 2020, but was suspended on March 14th due to the COVID shutdown. Filming eventually resumed on September 3, only to be put on pause again after Robert Pattinson (who plays Batman) tested positive for COVID-19. Filming was finally completed on March 13th, 2021 more than a fully year after it began.
Oh, and there were reshoots last month as well.
Unsurprisingly, “The Batman” has had its release date go from its original December 2020 launch to June 25, 2021 and now to March 4, 2022 ( which would 27 months after production began on the film).
