Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci” test-screened at 2 hours and 45 minutes in the summer. Seems like they’ve shaved off 8 minutes from its fatty runtime. An official runtime of 157 minutes is now in the books at the MPAA.
What an astronomical and risk-taking length. One look at the newly released trailer and the first thing you think is pure CAMP. This is a film that will be deliberate in its excess and theatricality. I want to see Pacino hamming it up. Leto is clearly going to deliver a ridiculous performance with that bald wig and fat suit. Gaga sounds like the real Patricia Gucci, which means she’s going to have a ball playing this ridiculous real-life character. Driver looks like the only sane one.
I have a reaction from a Friday evening screening possibly coming my way in an hour. I need to vet it and make sure it’s legitimate, yada yada yada. Stay tuned.
