Anne Hathaway, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ben Stiller, and Ben Kingsley star in this drama about a couple who, taking advantage of the COVID-19 lockdown, attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewelry heist at a luxurious department store.
Directed by Doug Liman, a reliable, efficient, and incredibly well-seasoned filmmaker who has been Hollywood’s secret weapon go-to director for almost 20 years, ”Locked Down” has a script by “Peaky Blinders” screenwriter Steven Knight, and had distribution rights bought by none other than HBO Max.
“Locked Down,” previously titled “Lockdown” is the first of what will likely be many COVID/pandemic-themed films in the next few years. The turnaround in completing production on this film was, quite frankly, impressive, given the pandemic has been going on for the last 9 months. The film was shot in London in September and October last year under ”strict supervision” on a slim $10 million budget.
Liman, as mentioned, is a safe but efficient filmmaker and responsible for some very entertaining movies, including “The Bourne Identity,” ‘Edge of Tomorrow,” “Go,” and “Swingers.”
The film debuts in just two weeks on January 14 on HBO Max.
