“Wedding Crashers” director David Dobkin has decided to reunite with Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell to bring to life a fictitious version of the uber-popular Eurovision Song Contest. Farrell and McAdams star as singers Lars and Sigrit, who are chosen to represent their Scandinavian country at Europe’s most popular singing completion.
The newly-released trailer looks like typical Netflix comic comfort food, but if the best jokes were used here then the movie is in a lot of trouble. Sure, it’ll nab millions of views on the streaming giant’s platform, but will it actually be funny? Ferrell hasn’t made a “funny” movie since 2010’s “The Other Guys,” he’s also coming off the disastrous “Holmes & Watson,” which may have possibly relegated him to pulling a Sandler and signing a deal with Netflix.
“Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga”—distributed by Netflix—is set to premiere June 26 on the streaming service.
