Jemma (Imogen Poots) and Tom (Jesse Eisenberg) are a young couple trapped in a rabbit maze of suburbia hell in “Vivarium.” This film, directed by Lorcan Finnegan, overuses its “How do we escape this suburban hell?” gimmick ad infinitum. As our young couple home-shop somewhere in Northern Ireland, they stumble upon a home tour via creepy realtor Martin (Jonathan Aris). Describing the place as “near enough” from everything, “far enough” from everything else, Martin ditches them at unit/house #9 in “Yonder,” a welcome basket of champagne and strawberries is dropped at the door, then a baby, wrapped up in a box, shows up on their doorstep. What sounds, on paper, at least, like a clever “Twilight Zone” episode turns into a repetitive 95-minute movie that you just want to get out of, however much like our young protagonists, we feel like there’s no way out of this metaphorically obvious cinematic hellhole.
