Deadline is reporting that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were tested positive for the Covid-19 Coronavirus. The married couple are currently down in Australia for pre-production work on Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley movie.
Deadline received this statement from Hanks:
“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!” – Tom Hanks
The contagion seems to have happened on the set of the untitled Elvis movie when a member of the crew tested positive for COVID-19 which consequentially led to everyone else getting tested. Production on the movie has, obviously, been shut down for an undetermined amount of time.
Hanks and Wilson are 63 years of age which puts him then the 3.8% mortality age category. Nothing to be too concerned about unless Hanks and Wilson’s immune systems are incredibly weak, which I doubt. We do know they are not smokers, so that helps their chances of significant recovery as well.
