Disney has forked over close to $75 million for the rights to distribute the filmed version of the “Hamilton” stage production. We have yet to confirm, but this looks like it could be the biggest acquisition for distribution in film history.
According to Deadline, it will be a 160-minute film arriving in 2021.
This film version of “Hamilton,” was recorded with the original cast, two weeks before they went their own ways. Will “Hamilton,” a massive record-breaking hit on Broadway, earn serious cash at the box office? Who knows, since this is a filmed live performance of a Broadway musical. The film is already in the can, so why a late 2021 release?
