Based on Lily Brooks-Dalton’s novel “Good Morning, Midnight”, George Clooney teams up with Netflix for the sci-fi drama “The Midnight Sky,” in which he also stars.
Clooney plays scientist Augustine, who races to stop a group of astronauts, led by Felicity Jones’ Sully, from returning to a post-apocalyptic planet Earth. The combination of Clooney and Netflix’s huge financial muscle could make this one a must-see. Clooney will almost certainly hope this latest effort lands better than his failed 2017 offering “Suburbicon”.
Thanks to Netflix, we have our first look at the new sci-fi film, which Clooney describes as “The Revenant” meets “Gravity.” The streaming giant has also announced plans to release “Midnight Sky” theatrically in early December. Does this mean you can add another 2020 Oscar contender to Netflix’s name? Well, take a look at the trailer below, what do you think? Clooney is seen sporting a gloomy beard and the whole thing feels like Soderbergh’s “Solaris” all over again (which also starred Clooney). The same solemn mood of that excellent film seeps through “The Midnight Sky” trailer, one can only hope it’s just as good.
