Willem Dafoe was ROBBED of a nomination for his fury-infused performance in THE LIGHTHOUSE. Dafoe, one of the best actors alive, has never won an Oscar, despite being nominated 4 times. One can imagine his Thomas Wake telling Oscar, "DAMN YE! Let Neptune strike ye dead! HAAAARK!" pic.twitter.com/VqqrsbtRoj

The Farewell didn’t use special FX or a one-take gimmick, nor did it rely on a popular novel to tell its story. Instead, it came straight from director Lulu Wang’s heart. A personal film about culture, family and love. Oscar or not, I hope we get more films like this from Wang.

Almost every frame in Celine Sciamma's PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE felt like a painting. Cinematographer Claire Mathon deserved an Oscar-nomination for her work this morning, but didn't get it. As with all great art, time will heal everything - the film will age like fine wine. pic.twitter.com/3mc0erz0R3

The Academy ignoring Adam Sandler in UNCUT GEMS and Robert De Niro in THE IRISHMAN means that we now have a Best Actor category missing two of the very best acting performances of the year

Awkwafina’s Oscar snub is ringing very hollow today. Not only did she deserve a nomination, but, looking at the five who did get in, she actually deserved to win.
