A few months back we were one of the first sites to report that Vince Gilligan was going to shoot the “Breaking Bad” movie in New Mexico. However, there wasn’t much to report beyond that, with no plot details mentioned. We had later confirmed, through Revenge of the Fans, that the cast of the aptly-titled “Greenbrier” would include several key “Breaking Bad” players, such as Jonathan Banks (Mike), Jesse Plemons (Todd), Charles Baker (Skinny Pete), Matt Jones (Badger), Robert Forster (Ed, aka The Disappearer), Tess Harper (Mrs. Pinkman), Kevin Rankin (Kenny) and, yes, Bryan Cranston as Walter White.
“Greenbrier” is Vince Gilligan‘s movie follow-up to “Breaking Bad.” It will air on AMC but will also premiere on Netflix. No premiere date has been set as of now, but I am told we could expect it as early as December. However, one of the its stars, Bob Odenkirk, spoke briefly about the film in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and confirmed that the movie is finished shooting and is now in post-production.
“I’ve heard so many different things about it, but I am excited about the Breaking Bad movie. I can’t wait to see it…I don’t know what people know and don’t know. I find it hard to believe you don’t know it was shot. They did it. You know what I mean? How is that a secret? But it is. They’ve done an amazing job of keeping it a secret.”
IMDB has the film’s status as being in “Post-Production.” So that’s another confirmation that Gilligan is done shooting the film.
Aaron Paul is confirmed to return to the role of Jesse Pinkman. Gilligan will be directing the film as well as writing the screenplay, alongside Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein. We still don’t technically know how Bryan Cranston will be involved in the movie, because – spoilers for Breaking Bad ahead – his character, Walter White, died in the series finale.
