“Ghostbusters” star Dan Aykroyd has confirmed to The Greg Hill Show that Bill Murray will be returning as Dr. Venkman for the upcoming “Ghostbusters 2020.”
Director Jason Reitman will direct and co-write the new Ghostbusters movie, which is said to be set in the original universe. The production is targeted to start this year with a planned Summer 2020 release date. Reitman had previously told Entertainment Weekly that the new movie will ignore the 2016 reboot directed by Paul Feig, and will be a direct continuation of the 1984 original.
Reitman is the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original movies. Jason has had his own very successful career as a filmmaker ever since his 2005 debut "Thank You For Not Smoking,” following that one up with the Oscar-nominated "Up in the Air" and "Juno."
