Speaking to Variety, Jennifer Aniston explained why there are no more interesting roles for her to tackle anymore, at least as far as those that don’t involve a green screen, and her answer echoes Martin Scorsese’s controversial sentiments from just this past weekend — blame it on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“You’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it’s big Marvel movies. Or things that I’m not just asked to do or really that interested in living in a green screen.”
According to the actress, Marvel has diminished the film industry and rendered the” mid-budget original movie”, once a staple of the movie industry, almost extinct:
“It’s changed so much,” she said. “I think we would so love to have the era of Meg Ryan come back. I just think it would be nice to go into a movie theater, sit cozy. I think we should have a resurgence. Let’s get the ‘Terms of Endearment’ back out there. You know, ‘Heaven Can Wait,’ ‘Young Frankenstein,’ ‘Blazing Saddles,’ ‘Goodbye Girl.’”
In the meantime, Aniston stars in “The Morning Show” which is a feature-length movie produced and distributed by Apple TV. Both the film and the streaming site are set to premiere on November 1.
