Director Andy Muschietti’s “It” was a box-office SMASH last fall, so much so that a sequel was already in the works right after the film’s September release. The focus of the second chapter would be on the kids all grown up, but Pennywise the clown still looming in the creaky darkness all around them. Muschietti wasn’t shy in his insistence to have grown up Beverly, the redhead, played by Jessica Chastain.
“Chastain is an amazing actress and very good friend and I would love her to play Beverly… she loves the movie and it feels like the planets are aligned in that sense, but we still have to make that happen,” Muschietti said during the film's release.
That wish has been granted. Chastain will most likely pay Beverely as she is currently in negotiations. You must wonder how she and Muschietti are such good friends, right? Well, they had previously worked on “Mama,” which I've totally forgotten Chastain was a part of. Maybe I give it the ol' rewatch this week. Bill Skarsgård will of course be back as Pennywise.
