Mark Hamill's interviews for "The Last Jedi" have been incredibly fascinating to watch. The 66-year-old-actor seems somewhat bitter or, should I say, troubled by the way Luke Skywalker has been treated in Episode IX. He's said "if people are expecting me to come out and weigh in with what I think about it, they're going to be disappointed, because it takes me a long time. At times, I'd say to Rian [Johnson], 'We gotta think of what the audience wants,'" Hamill said. "And he'd say, 'No, we've gotta think of what we want.' Which is a learning process for me."
Hamill has even admitted he was "shocked" when he read "The Last Jedi script, "“The fact that Luke says, ‘I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end…’ I mean, that’s a pretty amazing statement for someone who was the symbol of hope and optimism in the original films. When I first read it, my jaw dropped. What would make someone that alienated from his original convictions? That’s not something that you can just make up in an afternoon, and I really struggled with this thing.”

Hamill had also been quoted that he "fundamentally disagreed" with how Johnson chose Skywalker's story arc for "The Last Jedi," he then backed up on his comments and said "it was inartfully phrased. What I was surprised was by was how he [Johnson] saw Luke. And it took me a while to get around to his way of thinking, but once I was there it was a thrilling experience. I hope it will be for the audience too."
The comments don't seem to stop there, now Hamill says that Disney should have taken George Lucas' advice a little more seriously when it came to these new films. The actor admitted that he is disappointed that Lucas is no longer involved, while also registering his disappointment that the powers that be:
“I wish they were more accepting of his guidance and advice. What I wish is that they had been more accepting of his guidance and advice. Because he had an outline for ‘7,’ ‘8,’ and ‘9’. And it is vastly different to what they have done.”
He refused to outright attack Disney but we kinda see what he is implying.
